Marianne Penberthy is a fibre and textile artist based in Geraldton, Western Australia. She divides her creative practice between her studio and landscape environments. More specifically, her ground work created in isolated places has provided her with opportunities to explore a variety of materials she would not otherwise use, including flour sifted over lace creating resist patterns on red earth. This ephemeral approach is centred on the process of making in response to the self within a location or place.
Marianne has exhibited widely, and her work has been featured in Textile Fibre Forum and Surface Design Textile magazines. Most recently, Lace Flour Memory was selected for Fiberart International 2016, a juried exhibition in the USA.
